CNC News Studio
"Welcome to CNC International News. I'm Dan Wilson.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring breaking news from Carus. On the scene now, our International Correspondent, Sharon White reports:"

Phalaru, Carus
"Thank you, Dan. I am outside GMD Oil Well Three-Nine where, barely a half hour ago, gunfire erupted and GMD security personnel were overwhelmed by what authorities allege are Guellias rebels. Carus armed forces have surrounded the oil well, but have made no attempt to retake the facility. The reason for this became abundantly clear as gunmen emerged from the buildings and promptly executed one of their hostages. It is unknown how many hostages there are, but sources confirm that the facility had not been operating at full capacity and thus estimate the number to be no more than thirty GMD personnel.

This event marks the first time that Guellias rebels have struck at foreign targets and many experts believe that this is directly related to the rumours of the imminent deployment of WCS military forces to the Carus region. We will keep you updated on events as they unfold.

Sharon White, reporting from GMD Oil Well Three-Nine, Carus, East Africa."

New Members and Personnel Changes

Firstly, a warm welcome to all our new members. I know some of you are new to SMS as well, but I am here to help so if you have any questions, don't be shy to ask. Getting the hang of doing things on SMS will soon be second nature.

Secondly, I want to introduce my new assistant, Henrik(General Jonathan Hunter). He will be assisting me with running the site both IC and OOC. He still has quite a bit to learn, but from what I have seen, he'll pick things up fairly quickly.

We will very soon be starting our 'first' mission, but I want to remind you all that unless your character is new to WCS, they would likely have already completed a few contracts for the company. This is not WCS's first engagement. In fact, they have built up a pretty solid reputation around the world. As a result, many of your characters would likely know each other and be friends(or rivals). Take the time to PM each other and set up this background. Don't be afraid to do a flashback post or a simply a social post to communicate this arrangement(In fact, I strongly encourage it). Before we start the mission, there are a few things I have to get sorted, including bringing my new assistant up to speed as well as publishing quite a lot of background data about WCS, its equipment, policies and systems. So you guys still have time to do all this. When we launch the first mission, I want us to be a lot more comfortable posting with each other as well as our characters.

As always, direct questions and suggestions to me. I'm open to anything from suggestions on the structure of the site to plot ideas. Remember that no roleplay can be successful without the input of its members.
