Lieutenant Joseph Ashitaka

When Joseph was old enough he enlisted in to the Colonial Military and was a shoe in for OCS which he denied, instead opting for Viper School. During a training flight in Viper School, at great risk to himself, he rescued a fellow cadet whos guns on his mk II training Viper blew up nearly shearing off the wings. Joseph took his own Viper and nudged him using RCS thrusters towards the dry dock for rescue. The manuver earned him a commendation and a a pair of scars on his face as a piece of his instrument board flew out and sliced through his helmets face plate. The face plate saved him from dying but the glass cut up his face rather good.
Once he completed Viper School, Joseph opted to serve on board the Battlestar Galactica for a year followed by another year onboard the Battlestar Valkyrie under Commander William Adama's command. During his tenure on board the Valkyrie, Joseph ran several low risk missions with other Viper jocks near the Armistice line.

Born and raised on Caprica near Delphi, Joseph was raised to be an officer in the Colonial Military. His father died when he turned eleven due to old wounds that never really healed after the first Cylon war. His mother ended up taking care of both him and his younger brother Robin.
