General Overview
Astraea Allison, or Rae as she prefers, is a talented Raptor pilot stationed aboard the Gunstar Temperance. As with most experienced pilots, she carries herself confidently and isn't above speaking her mind when she thinks it's warranted. A career officer and a consummate soldier, she knows how to follow orders but doesn't hesistate to think outside the box when needed. She has mild agoraphobia, a product of a traumatic childhood experience, but has worked to overcome it in her adult years.

Born on the Aerilon agricultural colony of Ilium, Rae grew up an only child cared for by her grandparents following the deaths of her parents in a space accident. She was raised on a farm, learning from her grandfather, Peter, who was a fifth-generation farmer himself. From a young age, she demonstrated an aptitude for piloting, often driving their tractor to till the fields surrounding their home. Her grandparents were fairly well off by Aerilon standards, owning several hundred acres of land on Ilium. Rae was particularly close to her grandfather and they would often spend time outdoors in the fields together.

On her thirteenth birthday, she and her grandfather are scouting out new lands on foot around their property, a favorite pastime of both. Tragedy strikes when Peter suffers a major heart attack. Rae does her best to try and carry him back to the house, but is unable to do so in time to save his life, as he dies shortly after. She has an acute reaction to his death, and stays with him for days until they are discovered by rescue teams.

Following his passing, Rae becomes withdrawn and depressed, which worries her grandmother, Maura. Seeking to encourage her granddaughter's well-being, she suggests that Rae look into piloting as a hobby and even buys a small plane. Rae takes to it immediately, using it to cope with her loss. Upon her completion of high school, she joins the Colonial Military.
