Physical Description		Bastian Asgarn is quite the archetypal soldier, standing at six feet tall, well muscled and with a perfect posture. The way he carries himself only strengthens this image, as he walks with the swift and confident stride of a military man, with each of his movements being controlled and efficient at all times. His eyes have a hard and cold look at them and he will not back down from even the toughest of stares. He dresses professionally at all times, whether it is the black combat uniform of the Colonial Marines or the camouflage equivalent. He keeps his short beard neatly cropped and his head shaved bald.

General Overview
As tough from the inside as he looks to the outside, Bastian is a soldier personified. Loyal to the end, there is no command he doesn't carry out if ordered to do so by his superiors. Death is not a new thing for him, and he has no qualms about killing people. This does not mean that he enjoys it, it has simply been a part of his job description for so long that he does not dwell on it anymore. He has a strong sense of laws and chain of command, and he is determined to follow them instead of pursuing whatever his own wishes or ambitions might be. He despises weaknesses, both physical and mental, and does not suffer them from those who serve under him.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strenghts: Rigorously trained in physical and armed combat and survival under difficult conditions, Bastian is capable of surviving most battle situations that come in his way. He is experienced tactician and commander and is capable of leading forces into victory under most conditions. Weaknesses: Bastian's believes in the motto "We will either find a way, or make one". He does not believe in soft power and is determined to solve every situation through superior force. Thus, he is not very good in situations that require diplomacy or anything similar.

To serve in the military and wipe out the Cylons. With the destruction of Colonies, these are the only things he lives for.

Born in the Colony of Picon to a mother who did not want him, Bastian was found abandoned in front of an hospital at one of the busiest cities of the colony. Raised in an orphanage, he did not have many chances to get ahead in life, so he did what every Picon with wish to do something did – he joined the military. Strong, quick and all around physical, he chose the Colonial Marine Corps as his career. He quickly showed capabilities above the average jarhead, proving his worth in many training situations, and was soon on a quick track to rise in rank.

Within few years he was a higher officer aboard several ground combat facilities and military vessels, serving in more combat situations then he could count. While the Colonies were not officially at war with anyone, inner conflicts were normal. Terrorist attacks in Sagittaron and Leonis. Religious conflicts in Gemenon. Radical paramilitary groups in Canceron. Bastian fought in all those situations and more, performing with similar efficiency in all of them. The death and the difficult choices he saw in them turned him into a hard and cold man, ready to do whatever was neccessary to complete his objectives.

His performance earned him his first spot as a Marine commander aboard a battleship, Gunstar Temperance. He entered service around the time the ship was assigned to Battlestar Group 21, some time before the attacks. He was aboard it when the attacks happened.

 

Entered the Colonial Marine Corps as a Private, Colonial Fleet Headquarters (Picon).

Served with distinction as a Sergeant during the last stand of the remaining radical elements of the terrorist organization Leonis Liberation Front, when they took over the Scorpian Embassy in Leonis, taking 52 hostages with them. No hostages were killed. Raised to the rank of Lieutenant and given a commendation.

Succesfully defused an hostile situation aboard the vessel Amirkabir, whose captain threatened to launch missiles towards a small civilian outpost if his demands were not met. Personally responsible for the death of the captain and three of his crew members.

Given the rank of Lieutenant and the position of Marine Commanding Officer aboard Gunstar Temperance.
